“DON’T PANIC!” says Paula Bernstein of Indiewire, “The Quad isn’t going away.”
“It turns out that Charles S. Cohen, in addition to being the president and chief executive of Cohen Bros. Realty Corp., is also a major supporter of great film, both as a distributor and as a historian.” (Phew!)
“The torch has been passed so that the Quad can remain a beacon of opportunity here in New York for the independent film community,” said Cohen in a statement.
The Quad will keep its name and will continue to showcase great independent cinema within its four theaters as usual, at least that’s the plan. But, given Cohen’s avid love of cinema, I have to wonder if perhaps there is more in the works for this beloved Greenwich landmark?
What do you think would improve the Quad’s established reputation with New York film lovers? Share your thought with our readers in the comments section below.
