Like the name indicates, these Speed Boosters allow you to use EF lenses on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. “The Canon EF to BMPCC Speed BoosterTM adapters [are] designed exclusively for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera (BMPCC). Note that this new 0.58x Speed Booster will only attach to BMPCC equipped with a Micro-4/3 mount. They cannot be attached to standard Micro 4/3 cameras (cannot be attached to GH4, GH3, GH2 and GH1 body).
The new 0.58x Speed Booster reduces the crop factor of the BMPCC from 3.02x to 1.75x and produces the largest aperture optics currently available, with a maximum output aperture of f/0.74.” Learn more about what types of lenses you can use HERE.
The Metabones Canon EF to (BMPCC) Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera with Micro 4/3 Lens Mount Speed Booster allows a Canon EF lens to be mounted to a Pocket Cinema Camera and in doing so, increases the angle of view and the maximum aperture.
The 6-element optical design within the Speed Booster incorporates ultra-high index glass to achieve ideal optical performance at the largest apertures. It increases the maximum aperture by 1 2/3 stops with a maximum aperture of f/0.74 and reduces the crop factor from 2.88x to 1.75x.
The Speed Booster not only increases the field of view and lens speed, it also increases the lens’ MTF, or how faithfully the lens transfers detail from the object to the camera sensor. These increases in MTF are seen in the corners as well as the center of the images.
Built into the Speed Booster is a clickless aperture ring, a must-have feature for cinematographers, as well as a removable Arca-type compatible tripod mount.
